We had a successful visit from members of the RHS Fruit, Vegetable and Herb Committee on 26th July. Although the poor weather meant few people were working their plots, they were able to offer advice to those plotholders who were on site as they walked round and answer questions over a cup of tea afterwards. They clearly knew their stuff and were impressed with the wide range of crops we grow.
Our visitors were:
- Jim Arbury – RHS Fruit Superintendent from 1995 until 2008 and now a horticultural specialist at Wisley.
- Nick Dunn – current chairman of the committee and managing director of his family’s fruit nursery business.
- Andy Hughes – retired from working on research and development of horticultural crops.
- Barry Newman – a previous Chairman of the National Vegetable Society and one of its senior judges and lecturers.
